  • How much does a typical house move cost?

    Every house move is different so we will come to visit you and provide an accurate quote. The price will include the supply of boxes, tape, packing paper and our packing services, if required.

  • How many staff will be involved with my move?

    This will depend upon your requirements however a typical 3 bedroom house move, without packing will involve 3 operatives.

  • Do you supply packing boxes and tape?

    We will supply boxes, tape and packing paper as soon as you have confirmed your acceptance of the quotation, so that you can pack at your leisure - or we can do the packing for you. The cost of these boxes is included in the removal cost quoted however we do ask for a £100.00 deposit upon delivery, which will come off the final cost. Once you have finished with the boxes we will collect them from you and recycle them. There is no time limit attached to this and we don’t need to have all the boxes supplied returned - if you need to keep some then that is fine.


    We can supply boxes if you don’t use us to move you, however there will be a cost attached to this. If this interests you please call for further details.

  • Do you dismantle and reassemble furniture?

    Yes, we can dismantle and reassemble furniture as required and all furniture dismantled by us for the move will be reassembled as a matter of course.

  • Do you disconnect and reconnect washing machines and dishwashers?

    Yes - we can assist with this providing the plumbing is in appropriate condition to facilitate it, however we can’t assist with cookers as this requires the use of certified operatives. If you are stuck we can help you identify such operatives.

  • Can you move specialist items such as pianos?

    Yes, we have the experience, training and equipment to move all types of pianos.

  • How much notice do you require?

    2 to 3 weeks notice is pretty standard however short notice moves can often be accommodated.

  • Do you do removals over a weekend?

    Yes we can do removals over weekends and we don’t charge a premium for this service.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

    We accept cheque, cash or electronic transfer. 

  • Do you require a deposit?

    Should the quotation be acceptable to you we would need a 50% deposit from you once your date is fully confirmed. This tends to be around the date of exchange of contracts which is usually around 2 weeks prior to the move. The 50% balance will be due on the day of the move.


    Being a small family run company we can offer unrivalled flexibility in our approach across the board. If you are concerned about the deposit payment please talk to us and we will find a mutually satisfactory solution.

  • Do you offer storage services?

    MGP Removals have partnered with Now Storage to offer secure storage facilities in Newbury, Reading and Winchester and 2 sites in Basingstoke.  We will also assist our clients in identifying suitable and appropriate storage facilities wherever you are moving to or from.   • How big are the storage containers?

    All our storage sites have 40, 80 and 160 cubic feet containers and in addition we are able to store anything from a single item to any size property contents. 

  • Do you also get rid of unwanted furniture and large items of rubbish?

  • Are my belongings insured?

    Yes - as a matter of course we will provide doorstep to doorstep insurance as part of our removal cost. 


    Should you require increased levels of insurance or specialist insurance for anything then this can be arranged on a “cost only” (whatever we are charged, we will charge you) basis.


  • Do you do international removals?

    Yes - we have experience moving our clients to Ireland, Holland, France and Spain.
